Pitch For BCM241

My media niche is researching people who love nail art. Many women seen in various public places these days have manicures. Not only that, but in today’s age of social media, researchers have shown that the internet space can bring together people with the same values and customs (Winter, Lavis 2020). Therefore, on various social platforms, such as ins and Tik Tok, nail art has also received widespread attention. And when I want to do a beautiful nail, I also go to ins and Tik Tok to find it. I can see a lot of interesting and awesome nail art ideas on social networking sites, which can give me a lot of inspiration.

After drawing my live website, I post what I want to post on ins and Tik Tok to complete my autoethnography research and hope to get the audience’s likes and interaction, from the audience’s interaction Know what and where I should keep posting (Winter, Lavis 2020).

Below is a schedule I made for myself and will complete my tasks on time according to the content on this form. I update my account every five days to interact with my audience.

In addition to this, there is a very important point that I learned about ethics in the third week. There are many privacy issues that inevitably arise when researching ethnography. In order to avoid the privacy invasion of others when I develop digital products, I will code all accounts used to research my DA and let the audience know if I want to use their information. In addition, if I need to use the information of well-known bloggers on the Internet, I will clearly mark the source and platform information.

  1. Hi Yining – I’m really excited to be doing a peer review for you because I’m also really interested in nail art! It’s great to see that you’ve demonstrated an understanding of the subject content through referencing key readings and lectures, and it’s great that you’ve shown evidence of background research on multiple social media platforms. I think the audio quality of your presentation could be improved – I used the voice memo feature on my phone which surprisingly came out quite well. I also think that some textual elements of the blog post could be improved, for example writing ‘Instagram’ instead of ‘ins’, and your production schedule is slightly misaligned with your body text – I would recommend re-mapping your schedule to incorporate your commitment to engagement every five days, and even further specifying where and how you will do this (Criteria 2). Overall you’ve done well in communicating your media niche and I really look forward to seeing your content!

  2. Hi, I think your nail art project looks very interesting and I think you can do so much with it. I like how you have done research on social media platforms to see inspiring work which I think always helps to see similar examples of anything relatable. Your research looks very beneficial to your project and I have found this website that shows 60 Chinese nail art ideas which I believe will inspire you and you give you new ideas.

I think your video pitch looks very professional and there are enough images and videos for your audience to have a clear idea of the project. Also, your writing style is very interesting and well put together. Your pitch is very engaging and it’s an appropriate attitude for your project. Your blog looks effective however a few more documents would help to see the process of your digital artefact. Also, you have a really good insight into your field site and over your project seems very exciting good luck with it.

  3. Hi, yining, interesting pitch! Very specific niche you’re going through- nail art. I love the way you organize your post also your DA planning schedule was clearly presented. I thought your video and blog post worked hand-in-hand with one another. I particularly love the manner in which your video is presented that included your nail artwork and your accounts.

However, my suggestion perhaps would be to double check the grammar and punctuations also to include more about your field site and weekly lecture.

There were some awesome references made to ethical consideration, yet I think you could explain your research methodology in more detail to give your audience a better understanding of how you will conduct your autoethnographic research.

Two resources below are about autoethnographies:

I hope these will help you and I’m looking forward to following your DA.

  4. Hello, although I don’t know much about manicure, because I found that almost all the girls around me love this topic, I can see from it that as a girl, you love manicure and pursuit of beautiful things, this is very clear A little, it’s very good. Your schedule and videos are also very clear, clear goals and topics of interest will help the project progress more smoothly. I hope you can grow more comprehensively about your ethnographic research and media niche, thanks.

  5. Hi, Yining. I really like your DA’s idea on nail art! I think it is a very feasible media niche at the moment.

Your field site and schedule are very clear, and your research plan is well thought out. The examples you listed in the video are clear – you have done enough background research on your media niche. I like your saying that you plan to use Instagram and TikTok. I believe that different audiences of the two platforms will give you rich feedback. In addition, you are also considerate about the ethical issues!

I really want to hear more about your personal experience. What makes you interested in nail art and makes you decide to use it as your media niche. I think it would be helpful for you to study your own ethnography.

Overall, a great DA idea. I have followed your Instagram account. Best wishes to you and good luck with your DA!
