Last week’s blog detailed my media niche, and this week I’ll be doing a live sitemap for my ethnography. From what I’ve learned this week, a field is a network of relationships between human and non-human actors that ties these actors together. Not only that, but I also learned that observation is the cornerstone of all science (Amir Marvasti 2014). So I started thinking about the website I was going to use and the useful information on the website.
Below is the mind map I drew. It can be seen that I have chosen Instagram and Tik Tok as the sites where I upload my information. According to my observations on the two platforms, I chose different update methods.

As mentioned above, observation is an important part of ethnography. Therefore, I found through observation that pictures on Instagram are more popular with everyone, and the whole audience prefers pictures. However, short videos on Tik Tok are more popular with everyone, or instructional videos of more than one minute are more attractive to the audience. In addition, I not only observe the platform, but also observe the various bloggers on the platform, and learn from their experience to improve my DA. Because I chose the DA of nail art, I also observed bloggers who posted nail art videos. Among them, there is a blogger I like very much on Tik Tok—WEI AI.

She is uploading videos about nail art on Tik Tok and attracting a large number of fans. Through her, I found that the works she uploaded are all in the same style – watercolor nail art, so it has also attracted a lot of attention from fans who also love watercolor nail art. Each of her videos is covered with beautiful pictures and followed by a tutorial on how to do it. I think the videos created by this blogger are very suitable for posting on Tik Tok, so when I post videos on Tik Tok, I will take the advantages of her videos and adjust my videos.
In addition to that, I also intend to narrow down my niche based on what I’ve learned. The nail art market contains a variety of nail art, as I mentioned above about the video styles of my favorite bloggers, I will focus my updates on long nails later.
According to my observation of many nail art bloggers, when they have a certain number of fans, they tend to sell their own nail art tools. Due to the prosperity of the nail art market, various brands have been recommended by various bloggers. Although the brands are different, most of the products you sell are nail polish and manicure tools. I think that when my account attracts a certain number of fans, I can also develop a business of selling nail tools.
